NAT has been awarded the contract to design and manufacture a Secondary Barrier for enhanced Flight Deck security, to be retrofitted on a customer’s fleet of aircraft (A319, A320, 737, 747, 757, 767, and 777). Although the security of the flight deck has been dramatically improved in the post 9-11 period through the implementation of ballistic flight deck doors and enhanced ingress/egress procedures, it has been identified that during the period of time when the flight deck door is open, there remains some level of risk. The Flight Deck Secondary Barrier is deployed during this vulnerable time and acts as an additional layer of security between the flight deck and the passengers while allowing for full visibility of the flight deck for security purposes.
